Collaborating with a music management company? Now why would I do that? And what will I bring to their ‘table’? Let’s see…
BACK TO MY ‘ROOTS’
For starters, music is taking me back to my teenage years. I was such an avid music ‘mogul’ (a word that did not exist in my youth, tbh!) and I remember fondly how I knew so many bands and their songs – to agree that I could recite the words of many hits in those days. My study walls were plastered with posters and I had quite a few scrap books of all my favourites too.
Of course this time round it is very different since my input is around branding, marketing, PR and social management. These activities lead me to go to many ‘gigs’ and see the bands we manage perform live, in a recording studio, doing a publicity shoot and so forth. Being able to be around artists is great. One can see how eager they are to do their best. They strive for perfection. They don’t stop until they are all happy and in agreement with what they are doing. That is exactly what my approach is to my work. I enjoy getting stuck in and keep going until I reach the point of satisfaction. Once what is on paper is the look I’m after and can generate the response I’m after then I can sit back, take a breather and relax for a bit.
I started with creating a logo for HYH that reflect and sums up what they stand for and what the company is representing. ‘Hold Your Horses’ comes from an unique and original artwork that was given to the main stakeholders of the company. So I took it from there. I reworked the main focus point of the artwork and changed the colouring. The ‘cowboy with lasso’ became the favicon and by adding the secondary colour (red) the logo took shape and ended up where it is today… This logo is now being used across all company paperwork, social media sites and will continue into merchandise, etc. once the need for it is there.
Moving forward – the next step is the website. More about that later.
